Abstract (2. Language):
Tevfik Fikret was one of the leading figures of the Servet-i FUnûn literary movement in modern Turkish literature. Like other Servet-i Fünûn poets, pessimism was an important characteristic of his worldview and poetry. Such pessimism is clearly evident in the themes, terms and symbols he uses in his poetry. A significant example of these symbols or terms is the word "poison" (zehir). The aim of this paper is to examine the use and function this term in Tevfik Fikret's poetry.
