Abstract (2. Language):
The magnetic properties of volcanic rocks such as tuffs, volcanic breccias, basalts and sedimentary rocks as sandstones, quartzites, limestones, siltstones and mudstones in the age of Lower Eocene-Pliocene are investigated on the Marmara basin. Curie temperatures are determined by high-field thermomagnetic measurements, the domain states of the grains are predicted by hysteresis parameters and by comparing alternative demagnetization curves of isothermal remanent magnetization (IRM) and anhysteretic remanent magnetization (ARM) acquisition curves which carried out for each pilot sample. Magnetization components belonging to Zijderveld, stereonet diagrams and normalized magnetization intensity/temperature curves that used in paleomagnetic study are analysed for each pilot sample. The mineral components of the sedimentary rocks that are responsible from the magnetization are possible to classify according to their magnetization intensity value that varies between 0.023-158mA/m. The magnetization intensity of some kind of sandstone samples dropped into zero at 250-350oC whereas the existence of pyrrhotite and goethite is found as single magnetization component. The blocking temperature of siltstone, mudstone and some tuffes are at 400-450oC, wheras some limestones, sandstones are lost their magnetization at 500-670oC indicating magnetite, hematite and Ti-poor titanomagnetite. The volcanic rocks are mainly existend of basalt samples and are showing quit stable magnetization vectors. The NRM of volcanic samples are changing between 1.97164 mA/m and the existence of magnetite is common in most of these samples.
