Abstract (2. Language):
Roman Catholic Church or the Papacy which was founded as a ordinary church at the beginning of the Christian Era has turned into a massive structure which increasingly interfered in every area and dominated the whole of the Middle Ages. The Roman Catholic Church did not intend to define in the period that was at the peak of its power but when it was faced with Protestant Reformation, French Revolution and the threats of modernism it tried to overcome this case with a dogmatic definition -which is one of the most controversial subjects in the history of Christianity- that pope has infallible authority concerning faith and morals. The purpose of this article is to present the historical development of the doctrine of papal infallibility and the First Vatican Council.
