Abstract (2. Language):
The Soviet Union collapsed in the 1990s and former Soviet republics began to win their freedom one by one. Azerbaijan declared her freedom along with other Turkic republics in 1991.Each republic began to restructure within itself. Considerable changes were made in every field beginning with administrative cadres. Significant reforms were realized in military, economics, foreign policy, health and education.
They changed their alphabets and adopted the current education system. They changed from Krill alphabet to Latin alphabet and each republic determined their letters with slight changes to meet the linguistic demands of their own languages. As a result of increasing relations with foreign countries, foreign language teaching centers were opened and educational institutions of Turkey and other countries begin to operate in these republics.
They gave importance to their mother languages and prepared textbooks to teach their mother languages, national history and national geography. Changes were made in the university entrance exam system and preparatory courses for university exams were opened.
