Employee absence, being serious financial burden for businesses which wish to continue their struggle in tough competitive conditions of today, has become a very important issue to be resolved. Absenteeism of blue-collar employee of automobile and truck manufacturer in Turkey operating in the automotive industry has been analyzed. In these analyzes, whether there is a relationship between demographic factors, tenure, department worked and absenteeism or not has been determined and then has been tried to determine the cost of absenteeism. 479 blue-collar employees of company were included in the study. In order to test the hypothesis suggested in this study, two different regression models were constructed. In these two different regression model, only second regression model has been consistent. As a result of this study, blue-collar workers tenure affected absenteeism has been found. Most importantly, the cost of the blue-collar workers absenteeism for one year is 76.000 TL.

Günümüzde çetin rekabet şartlarında mücadelelerine devam etmek isteyen işletmelere ciddi mali yük getiren personel devamsızlığı artık incelenmesi ve çözülmesi gereken çok önemli bir konu haline gelmiştir. Bu amaçla çalışmada, Türkiye'de otomotiv sektöründe faaliyet gösteren bir otomobil üreticisi olan firma mavi yaka çalışanlarının devamsızlıkları analiz edilmiştir. Bu analizlerde, devamsızlıkları demografik faktörlerin, işte kalış sürelerinin ve çalıştıkları departmanların etkileyip etkilemediği belirlenmeye çalışılmış ve devamsızlığın firma üzerine mali açıdan ne kadar bir yük getirdiği belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmaya firmanın 479 mavi yaka çalışanı dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmada öne sürülen hipotezleri test etmek amacıyla iki farklı regresyon modeli oluşturulmuştur. Bu iki farklı regresyon modelinde sadece ikinci regresyon modelinin tutarlı görülmüştür. Çalışma sonucunda, mavi yaka çalışanlarının işte kalış sürelerinin devamsızlıklarını olumsuz yönde etkilediği bulunmuş ve en önemlisi mavi yaka çalışanlarının devamsızlık maliyeti bir yıl için 76.000 TL olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
