Abstract (2. Language): 
Taking a critical stance on the discussion fostered by the ban on the screening of İtiraf (Nymphomaniac) in Turkey, this papers aims to analyze the neglected, multipolar, socio-cultural, historical and political aspects of censorship. I ground my inquiry on the main themes of İtiraf, sexual freedom and intimacy with regards to the postcolonial problem of representation and the East/West dichotomy. Using the tweets in the Nymphomaniac hashtag in twitter and drawing on Bauman&Lyon's approach, I argue that the notions of sexual freedom and intimacy intrinsic to Turkish culture are reconstructed and homogenized in a West-centric, universal, transnational and global context. Hopefully, through a theoretical reassesment of censorship, this study may open up a critical room for interrogating the discourses of cultural hybridity, heterogeneity and universal freedom.

Bu yazının amacı, İtiraf (Nymphomaniac) yasağının yarattığı geniş çaplı tartışmaya eleştirel bir perspektiften bakarak, sansür kavramının ve ediminin ihmal edilen, görmezden gelinen çok-kutuplu sosyo-kültürel, tarihsel ve politik veçhelerini incelemektir. Sansür tartışmamı post-kolonyal Doğu/Batı ikiliği ve temsili sorunsalı çerçevesinde, İtiraf örneğinin ana teması olan cinsel özgürleşme ve mahremiyet etrafında örüyorum. Bu doğrultuda, twitter'daki Nymphomaniac hashtaginin içerdiği tweetlerden ve Bauman ile Lyon'un yaklaşımlarından yararlanarak, Türkiye kültürüne içkin cinsel özgürlük ve mahremiyet mefhumlarının, Batı temelli, evrensel, ulusötesi ve küresel bir boyutta yeniden inşaya tâbi tutulup homojenize edildiğini ileri sürüyorum. Bu çalışmanın kuramsal bir sansür tartışması vasıtasıyla; kültürel melezlik, heterojenlik ve evrensel özgürlük söylemlerini tartışmak için eleştirel bir alan açacağını umuyorum.
