Abstract (2. Language): 
Tourism sector has become an important dynamic service sector of the world with direct and indirect impacts on economies. Tourism sector contributes to reduction of the current account deficit that most important macro economic problems in Turkish economy. In this study, role and impact of net tourism revenues in the current account deficit reducing were examined with the empirical analysis. In study cointegration, VECM and Granger causality tests were applied using current account deficit and net tourism revenues variables over annual data for the period 1980-2015. In conclusion; long-term and negative correlation was detected between net tourism revenues and current account deficit. Also, that net tourism income is effective in the current account deficit reducing was concluded by determining unidirectional causality from net tourism revenues to current account deficit.

Turizm sektörü ekonomiler üzerindeki doğrudan ve dolaylı etkileri ile dünyanın önemli dinamik hizmet sektörü haline gelmiştir. Turizm sektörü Türkiye ekonomisinde en önemli makro ekonomik sorunlardan biri olan cari işlemler açığının azaltılmasına katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada net turizm gelirlerinin cari işlemler açığını azaltmadaki rolü ve etkisi ampirik analiz yapılarak incelenmiştir. Çalışmada 1980-2015 dönemine ait yıllık veriler üzerinden net turizm gelirleri ve cari işlemler açığı değişkenleri kullanılarak eşbütünleşme, VECM testi ve nedensellik testleri uygulanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda; cari işlemler açığı ile net turizm gelirleri arasında uzun dönemli ve negatif yönlü bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca net turizm gelirlerinden cari işlemler açığına doğru tek yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi bulunarak, net turizm gelirlerinin cari işlemler açığının azaltılmasında etkili olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
