Socio-economic growth and structural change of society is possible with physical capital and human capital. The most important component of human capital is education. Increased of level education will also increase human capital. The aim of this study is to examine the short and long-term relationships on economic growth of the education expenditure in the G20 countries during the period 2000-2011. In this study, education expenditures and GDP variables between long and short-term relationships in G20 countries over the period 2000-2011 are tested by using panel co-integration and error correction model. The existence of a long-term relationship with Pedroni panel cointegration test and the presence of short-term relationship with the pooled group mean regression have been tested. According to results, the long and short-term relationships between education expenditure and economic growth are positive and significant.

Toplumların sosyo-ekonomik olarak büyümesi ve yapısal olarak değişmesi ancak fiziki sermaye ve beşeri sermaye ile mümkündür. Beşeri sermayenin en önemli bileşeni eğitimdir. Eğitim seviyesinin artmasıyla birlikte beşeri sermayede artmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2000-2011 döneminde G20 ülkelerinde eğitim harcamaları ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki kısa ve uzun dönemli ilişkiyi incelemektir. G20 ülkelerinde eğitim harcamaları ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki uzun ve kısa dönemli ilişkiler panel eş-bütünleşme ve hata düzeltme modeli kapsamında ele alınmıştır. Uzun dönemli ilişkinin varlığı Pedroni panel eşbütünleşme testi ile kısa dönemli ilişkinin varlığı ise Havuzlanmış Ortalama Grup Regresyonu ile sınanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, eğitim harcamaları ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki uzun ve kısa dönem ilişkilerinin pozitif ve anlamlı olduğu görülmüştür.
