Abstract (2. Language): 
This paper that gives priority to opening the square “Taksim Meydanı” to working class in May Day 2010 and also that national newspapers are to put this issue on their agendas as regards to different phenomenon aims to determine the extent to which the discourse of newspapers overlaps with the reality of May Day. In this way, AG, HG and SG newspapers are selected within 33 newspapers by multi-stage sampling techniques. Qualitative research methods, such as documentary research, critical discourse analysis, and content analysis are applied, after coding variables and categorizing the codes. One of the findings of this paper is that HG, unlike the other two newspapers, tries to set a real agenda in relation to working class in May Day 2010. This means SG and AG consider form and visuality, while HG considers quality, idea, and content of the news (message).

Taksim Meydanı’nın 1 Mayıs 2010’da emekçi sınıfa açılması ve ulusal gazetelerin bunu farklı olgular ekseninde gündemine taşımasını önceleyen bu çalışma, gazetelerin söylemlerinin 1 Mayıs gerçekliği ile ne ölçüde örtüştüğünü belirlemeye çalışmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, 33 gazete arasından çok aşamalı örnekleme tekniği ile AG, HG ve SG gazeteleri seçilmiştir. Verilerin kodlanması ve kodların kategorileştirilmesinden sonra doküman analizi, eleştirel söylem analizi ve içerik analizi gibi nitel araştırma yöntemleri uygulanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın bulgularından biri, diğer ikisinden farklı olarak HG’nin 2010 1 Mayısı’nda emekçi sınıfa ilişkin gerçek gündem oluşturma çabasıdır. Bu, HG’nin mesajın nitelik, düşünce ve içeriğini önemsemesine karşın, SG ve AG’nin biçim ve görüntüyü önemsediği anlamına gelir.
