Police corruption, which can vary from one country to another terms of its frequency, is a universal phenaomen. The police corruption scandals, which have been emerged time to time in metropol cities, especially, in New York City, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles prove the existence of police corruption in the United States. The main objective of this study is to review the literature including the research and reports, which has been published in the USA after the scandals have emerged especially in New York City. It is aimed with this literature review, which has been attempted for the first time in Turkey that the USA experience in police corruption would be a good practice for the future research to control the police corruption in Turkey.

Polis yolsuzluğu, tüm dünyada görülme sıklığı ülkeden ülkeye rklılık gösterse de evrensel bir sorundur. Özellikle New York, Chicago, Miami ve Los Angeles gibi metropol kentlerde zaman zaman ortaya çıkan polis yolsuzluğu skandalları, yolsuzluğun Amerikan polisinde de var olduğunu gözler önüne sermektedir Bu çalışmanın en temel amacı, Amerika’da özellikle New York Kentinde ortaya çıkan polis yolsuzlukları üzerine yapılan çalışmaları incelemek ve önlemeye yönelik geliştirilen stratejileri gözden geçirmektir. Türkiye’de bu alanda ilk kez yapılan bu literatür çalışması ile, Amerika’nın geçirmiş olduğu bu deneyimin Türkiye’de polis yolsuzluğunu kontrol altına almak için yapılacak bundan sonraki çalışmalara örnek oluşturması hedeflenmiştir.
