Abstract (2. Language):
Every person is potentially subject to stress but police officers are at greater risk than other people since they encounter numerous stressors as part of their professional duties. Certain organizational and managerial characteristics of police job, such as shift-rotation, strict supervision, violent events, time bounded work, authoritarian and paramilitary aspects, high work-load and bureaucracy create stressful environments. And the levels of impact of this environment on officers are crucial in determining which officers are more likely to turn to domestic violence. Results revealed that police officers who have high level of job stress are almost 4 times more likely to commit domestic violence. Gender was found to be one of the most significant predictors. Another predictor of domestic violence was the exposure to critical incidents in daily policing. Findings suggested that the more police officers are exposed to negative events during work, the more they are likely to be violent at home.
Abstract (Original Language):
Her insan yaşamında farklı dönemlerde stresin mağduru ol-maktadır.
