Objective: Purpose of this study was to use imaging methods which is cheaper and offering less radiation dousage Instead of Computarized Tomography (CTj vvhich is more expensive and higher radiation dousage for determination of alveol clefts. For this purpose, peraplcal and oclussal plane X-rays are used in this study, which are vvidely used by dentists for diagnosis of dental pathologies. Patients and Methods: Eleven patients wlth unilateral alveol clefts was operated with seconder otogen illac and allogenic cansellous bone grafts between 1998 and 2004. Bone defects was measured by NetCAD program vvith periapical and oclussal graphies pre operatively Bone wax was used for per operative measurement and real size has been obtained. Late period control graphies was obtained with the same rontgenograms betvveen post operative 6 months and I year. Lost bone volume and ossification were determined. Result We think that periapical and oclussal graphies are easier procedures and may be used Instead of CT for follovv up in alveol clefts. Addditional advantages are exposure to lower doses of radiation and low prices.

Anaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, alveol yarıklarının takibinde sık kullanılan pahalı ve radyasyon dozu yüksek olan bilgisa¬yarlı tomografi (BTj yerine daha ucuz ve daha az radyasyon veren görüntüleme yöntemleri kullanmaktır. Bunun için diş hekimleri tarafından dental patolojilerin tanısında sık kullanılan periapikal ve oklüzal grafi kullanıldı. Hastalar ve metod: 1998 - 2004 yıllan arasında "tek taraflı alveol yarığı" olan 11 hasta otojen iliak ve ailojenik kansetlöz kemik grefti ile öpere edilmiştir. Preoperatif kemik defektler periapikal ve oklüzal grafiler çekilerek NetCAD programı ile belirlendi. Peroperatifkemik mumu ile yeniden defekt ölçümü yapı/arak gerçek değer bulundu. Postoperatif 6 ay-l yıl süresinde aynı grafîlerle geç kontrol filmleri alındı ve kemik kaybı yüzde (%) olarak ve etraf dokularla olan ossifikasyonu değerlendirildi. Sonuç: Uygulamanın kolay olması, özellikle çocukların daha az radyasyon almaları ve ekonomik olması nedeniyle alveol yanklannın takibinde BTyerine periapikal ve oklüzal grafi kullanılabileceği kanaatindeyiz.
