Functional orthopedic treatment seeks to correct malocclusions and harmonize the shape of the dental arch and orofacial functions. There are two types of functional orthopedic appliance known as removable and fixed functional appliances. A number of fixed appliances have gained popularity in recent years to help achieve better results in non-compliant patients.

Fonksiyonel ortopedik tedavi, maloklüzyonları düzeltmeye ve orofasial fonksiyonlarla dental ark yapısını harmonize etmeye çalışır. Sabit ve hareketli olmak üzere 2 tip fonksiyonel ortopedik aparey tipi mevcuttur. Son yıllarda çok çeştitli sabit fonksiyonel aparey, koopere olmayan hastalarda çok iyi sonuçlar elde edilmesini sağlayarak popülarite kazanmıştır.
