Kessler, East - Prussia Wilmsdorf accident was born on 08/24/1883. Hal tercümesi : İstanbul Üniversitesi İktisat Fakültesinde devamlı olarak 17 yıl çalışmış olan Sosyoloji ve Sosyal Siyaset Profesörü değerli bilgin Prof. Kessler'i geçen ay kaybetmiş bulunuyoruz.
Kessler, Doğu - Prusya'da Wilmsdorf kazasında 24.8.1883 tarihinde doğdu. Berlin'de 1889 - 1901 arasında ilk, orta ve lise tahsilini yaptı. 1901 - 1907 arasında Berlin ve Leipzig Üniversitelerinde yüksek tahsil yaparak 1905 de Leipzig Üniversitesinin Felsefe Doktoru unvanını ihraz etti. 1907 - 1908 senelerinde askerlik hizmetini ve 1908 - 1910 da Sosyal Reform Cemiyetinin Umumî Katipliğini yaptı. 1911 de Braunschweig Teknik Üniversitesinde Ekonomi Doçentliğine getirildi. Bunu müteakip Yena Üniversitesine, iktisat ve Sosyal Siyaset Kürsüsüne tayin edildi (1912 - 1927).
Birinci Dünya Savaşında topçu subayı olarak Fransa ve Romanya cephelerinde hizmet etti. 1927 de Leipzig Üniversitesine Ord. Profesör olarak çağrıldı ve İktisat ve Sosyal Siyaset dersleri verdi (1927 - 1933). Burada çalışırken Hitler rejimi tarafından işine nihayet verildi. 1933 senesi Temmuzun'da sebepsiz olarak bir müddet hapse atıldı. Eylül 1933 de Türk Hükümetinin daveti üzerine istanbul Üniversitesine tayin olundu ve 1934 bidayetinde Sosyoloji derslerine başladı.
