Sociology is the scientific study of human groups and social behavior. Sociologist focus primarily on human interactions, including how social relationships influence people’s attitudes and how societies form and change. Sociology, therefore, is a discipline of broad scope. The Sociological study of work has always played a central part in the Sociology. Work is something we associate with human beings. Work is basic to the ways in which human beings deal with the problems arising from the scarcity of resources available in the environment. The scarcity of resources in the world influences the patterns of conflict and competition which arise between social groups. It follows from this that the social organization of work will reflect the basic power relationships of any particular society.

Sosyoloji, insan grupları ve sosyal davranıslarla ilgilenen bilim dalıdır. Sosyologlar öncelikli olarak insan etkilesimleri üzerinde durmaktadırlar. Sosyal iliskilerin insanların davranıslarına etkisi ve toplumların nasıl sekillenip değistiği de bu konuya dahildir. Bu nedenlerden dolayı sosyoloji genis bir alanı kapsamaktadır. Çalısma, sosyolojide her zaman merkezi durumdadır. Çalısma, insanla iliskili bir konudur. Kıt kaynakların olduğu bir dünyada çalısmak, insanın gittikçe artan sorunlarını karsılamada çok gerekli bir ihtiyaç haline gelmistir. Dünyadaki kaynakların kıt olması sebebiyle sosyal gruplar arasında çatısma ve rekabet giderek artmıstır. Sosyal bir organizasyon olan çalısma da, toplumdaki kesimler arasındaki bu temel güç iliskisini yansıtması bakımından önem tasır.
