The effect of incision lenght, suture number and suture removal on astigmatism after cataract surgery was investigated. The study was involved of 95 eyes of 95 cases who were operated PECCE and posterior camera IOL implantation in eye clinic of Süleyman Demirel University Hospital during February 1997-April 1998. 10¬0 monoflamane nylon suture material was used in all operation. Cases were followed about corneal astigma¬tism for 6 month. Suture removal operation was carried out in cases between postoperative 2nd and 5th mounth that was considered postoperative incision healing. Decrease of mean astigmatism value with suture reoval as deterineted.

Katarakt operasyonlarında kullanılan kesi uzunluğunun, sütür sayısının ve sütür alınmasının postoperatif dönemde gelişen astigmatizma miktarı üzerindeki etkileri araştırıldı. Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı'nda Şubat 1997-Nisan 1998 tarihleri arasında PEKKE arka kamara İOL implantasyonu yapılan, 95 olgunun 95 gözü çalışma kapsamına alındı. Tüm operasyonlarda 10-0 monoflaman naylon sütür materyali kullanıldı. Olgular korneal astigmatizma yönünden postoperatif 6 ay süre ile takip edildi. Olgularda postoperatif kesi yeri iyileşmesi gözönünde bulundurularak 2. ve 5. aylar arasında sütür alınması işlemi uygulandı. Sütür alınması ile ortalama astigmatizma değerlerinin düştüğü tespit edildi.
