Evaluation of patients referred for orthodontic treatment is of great importance for planning an ortodontic service. This study investigated social incurences, the cities where the patients referred from and treatment alternatives as well as distribution of malocclusions in a referred population. The material of the study was composed of 2844 (1662 girls, 1182 boys) patients referred to the Department of Orthodontics, Suleyman Demirel University, paculty of Dentistry between January 2002 and November 2004. Mean age of the subjects was 13.26 years. According to our results, patients were referred mostly from Antalya. Most of the patients had social insurance from Emekli Sandığı. Angle Class I was the most frequently seen malocclusion type and most common treatment alternative was the fixed orthodontic treatment.

Ortodontik tedavi olmak amacýyla kliniklere baþvuran hasta populasyonunun incelenmesi, klinik ihtiyaçlarýnýn bu bulgulara göre düzenlenmesi açýsýndan büyük önem taþýmaktadýr. Bu çalýþmada kliniðimize baþvuran hasta populasyonunda maloklüzyon daðýlýmýnýn yanýsýra, baþvurduklarý iller, baðlý olduklarý kurum ve öngörülen tedavi planlamalarý incelenmiþtir. Maloklüzyon tipleri Angle sýnýflamasýna göre belirlenmiþtir. Çalýþmamýzýn materyalini, Ocak 2002 ve Kasým 2004 tarihleri arasýnda Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Diþhekimliði pakültesi Ortodonti Kliniðine baþvuran 2844 hasta oluþturmaktadýr (1662 kýz, 1182 erkek). Bireylerin ortalama yaþý 13.26' dýr. Araþtýrmamýzýn sonuçlarýna göre kliniðimize baþvuran hastalarýn çoðunluðunun Antalya'dan geldiði (%42.83), hastalarýn en çok Emekli Sandýðýna baðlý olduðu (%48.35), çoðunda Angle Sýnýf I maloklüzyon bulunduðu (%65.65) ve en yüksek oranda sabit tedavi öngörüldüðü (%72.08) tespit edilmiþtir.
