Interest on aquarium fish in our country has been increased lately. Osteoglossum bicirrhosum which is known as Silver arawana fish confronts to extinction and it is the most common arawana fish at South America. Silver arawana fish has become center of interest for the aquarists because of its unique appearance. In this research it has been tried to give information about Osteoglossum bicirrhosum's morphology, its biological properties, aquaculturing.

Son yıllarda ülkemizde akvaryum balıklarına olan ilgi oldukça artmıştır. Güney Amerika'da arowanalarin en yaygın türü ve soyu tükenme tehlikesiyle karşı karşıya olan, bilimsel olarak Osteoglossum bicirrhosum ismiyle bilinen Gümüş Arowana balığı eşsiz görüntü sergilemesi sebebiyle birçok akvaryumcu için ilgi odağı haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Osteoglossum bicirrhosum'un morfolojisi, biyolojik özellikleri ve yetiştiriciliğini konu edinen bir çalışma hazırlanmıştır.
