Abstract (2. Language):
There are ongoing studies intended to enhance education all over the world in an attempt to improve the quality of teaching in schools. Given that one of the factors influencing student success is teachers, the development of teachers is a priority. Therefore, it has been of great importance to enhance professional development programs both quantitatively and qualitatively. One of the professional development programs, recently being widely used in some countries, is course research model or course study described as Lesson Study that being said. This study aims to determine the insights of the participants involved in a lesson study in relation to the process of preparing and practicing the lesson, their opinions regarding the characteristics that the teachers involved in a lesson study should have, the applicability of the model to the public schools in Turkey and their suggestions to over comepotential challenges that may emerge in the application process. Being a qualitative research, the study was carried out in the spring semester of the academic year of 2015-2016, with the participation of a training program and teaching specialist, a mathematics education specialist and 5 mathematics teachers serving in different public schools. As a part of the data collection process, the practice of 6-hour lesson study was performed in certain stages. Following the practice, a focus group discussion with all of the authors was conducted to reveal the opinions of the participants in regard to the whole process. A content analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the focus group discussion. The study concluded that the opinions of the teachers in relation to the process of preparing and practicing the method of lesson study were more positive whereas the insights regarding the applicability of this method in Turkey seem to be more negative.
Abstract (Original Language):
Okullarda yapılan öğretimin niteliğini artırmak amacıyla dünyanın her yerinde eğitimi geliştirme çalışmaları yapılmaktadır.
