Socialist realism that expresses the social aspect of realism appears with such elements as revolutionary romanticism, positive hero, and contradiction. Whereas revolutionary romanticism refers to method for revolution; positive hero to the character striving for revolution; contradiction to the struggle that centers in economy.
Ahmet Ümit’s novel Kar Kokusu tells the events lived by six youths who are sent to Russia to learn communism by Turkish Communist Party. As the mentioned elements of the theory of socialist realism are emphasized, the novel should be studied in terms of this theory. Therefore, the aim of this study is to find out to what extent the novel reflex socialist realism

Gerçekçiliğin toplumcu yönünü ifade eden toplumcu gerçekçilik devrimci romantizm, olumlu kahraman ve çelişki ögeleriyle ön plana çıkar. Devrimci romantizm, devrime gidilecek yolu; olumlu kahraman, devrim için çalışan kişiyi; çelişki ise, ekonomi merkezli çatışmaları karşılar.
Ahmet Ümit’in Kar Kokusu romanı Türkiye Komünist Partisi tarafından komünizmi öğrenmek amacıyla Rusya’ya gönderilen 6 gencin yaşadığı olayları konu edinir. Toplumcu gerçekçi kuramın yukarıda bahsi geçen ögelerini ön plana çıkarması dolayısıyla roman bu çerçevede incelenmelidir. Buna uygun olarak çalışmanın amacı, romanın toplumcu gerçekçiliği ne ölçüde yansıttığını bulmaktır.
