Abstract (2. Language):
The linear but period specific character of physical growth during the first 18 years of life requires age and gender specific references. The most practical and useful of these references may be anthropometric measurements. Certain clinical situations like being over¬weight and obesity and projections of these situations as metabolic and cardiovascular diseases are screened and cured by using anthropometric measurements and indexes derived from these results. There was limited number of anthropometric measurements to evaluate the overweight and obese, but in the last a multitude of reports several reports were published related to the significance of relative¬ly new measures which describes the body composition more pre¬cisely when used with the previous measurements. While evaluating the precursors of severe chronic diseases certain reliable measures and interpretation of these measures are quite significant in clinical decision making. In this paper we will try to describe the methodology of interpreting anthropometric measurements for both screen¬ing and clinical follow-up.
