Akut Solunum Yetmezliklerinde Noninvaziv Mekanik Ventilasyon

Noninvasive Mechanical Ventilation In Acute Respiratory Failure

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
A ventilator is a device designed to augment or support spontaneous respiration. The goals of mechanical ventilation are to control respiratory acidosis, improve gas exchange, reduce work of breathing, reverse atelectasis, reduce cardiac workload and minimize the complications related to ventilatory support. For a several decades, acute respiratory failure was managed by mechanical ventilation via endotracheal tube. However, endotracheal intubation and MV may lead to injury of upper airway as well as ventilator-associated pneumonia. To avoid these complications in patients with acute respiratory failure, noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV) has been utilized. In this review, we have answered the questions about what NIVM is and when NIVM is to be used.
