Abstract (2. Language):
In the present study, it was planned to accomq iish maxillary expansion in rabbits by a continuous force-producing appiaance and to evaluate the relaps process which took place after the expansion appliances were removed. For this purpose, 3-month old ten New Zeaaand male rabbits were used. Maxillary impressions were obtained from all animals and the appliances were appiied to the mouth after they were fabricated. Following two weeks of expansion period which was carried out using 250 gram continuous force, expanders were removed and 4 weeks relaps period begun. Initial (TO) and postexpansion (T1) and follow-up (T2) maxillary widths were measured on plaster models with a calliper and were compared by parred t-test. As a result; it was determined that application of expansion appliance resulted in 1.94 milime-ter increase in maxiilary width on average, however, 79.27 percent of this increase was lost within relaps period.
