Abstract (2. Language): 
While focusing on efforts of a film maker who has made commercials and documentaries and who aims for a cinema film, Peter Ackroyd’s The Great Fire of London (1982) reflects the economic, political, social and cultural problems of contemporary British society and exemplifies the destructive effects of social crises on art and the artist. In this depiction death is the major metaphor in the book.

Peter Ackroyd’un, Türkçe’si ile Büyük Londra Yangını, The Great Fire of London adlı romanı (1982), o ana kadar reklâm ve belgesel çalışmış bir filmcinin ilk sanat filmini çekme çabaları üzerine odaklanırken, art alanda çağdaş İngiliz toplumunun sıkıntılarını yansıtır ve toplumsal bunalımın sanat ve sanatçı üzerine olabilecek kötücül etkisini örnekler. Bu temanın sergilenişinde ölüm, kullanılan başat metaforlardan biridir.
