When the researches about acquisition of more than one language are examined, we see that bilingualism or multilingualism has occupied the attention of linguists, psychologists, sociologists, pedagogs, anthropologists; each group approaching the phenomenon from its own point of view and in the interests of its own discipline. In this study, development process of bilingualism have been examined from a linguistics perspective.

Erken çocukluk döneminde birden fazla dil kazanımı üzerine yapılan araştırmalar incelendiğinde, “iki ya da çok dillilik” kavramının sosyoloji, psikoloji, pedagoji, antropoloji ve dilbilim gibi disiplinlere konu olduğu ve her bir disiplinde farklı boyutlardan İncelenmekte olduğu görülür. Bu çalışmada erken çocukluk döneminde iki dilliliğin gelişimsel süreçleri dilbilimsel açıdan incelenmiştir.
