ELEKTRİK TÜKETİMİ İLE EKONOMİK BÜYÜME ARASINDAKİ NEDENSELLİK: TÜRKİYE ÜZERİNE EKONOMETRİK BİR ANALİZ

Causality Between Electricity Consumption and Economic Growth: An Econometric Analysis on Turkey

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this paper is to investigate causality between electricity consumption and economic growth in Turkey. For this purpose, the relationships between electricity consumption and economic growth are analyzed econometrically by employing cointegration and error correction-augmented Granger causality test tecniques for the period of 1970-2010. The analysis results indicate that there is bi-directional causality between electiricity consumption and economic growth in Turkey. As a result, analyses of this study point-out that in order to sustain economic growth of Turkey it is necessary for economic and energy policies to be compatible with each other and it is needed to apply policies directed to increase energy supply
