İnternal Juguler Venöz Kateterizasyonda Ultrasonografi Kılavuzluğunun Etkinliği

The Efficiency of Ultrasound-Guided Technique in Venous Catheterization Via the Internal Jugular Vein

Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of ultrasound guided internal jugular venous cannulation. The retrospective data base and patient files of 190 patients who had ultrasound guided internal juguler venous puncture intervention between the dates 23.02.2007and 19.02.2008 were reviewed. Techniqual success was 99.5%. Only in one case intervention failed. Succesfull first-pass access rate was 93.2% (177 patients). The immediate complication rate was only 2 % (arterial puncture 0.5%, leakage hemorrhage %1, infection 0.5%) and no major complications requiring additional intervention or surgery was observed. This study presents the complication and success rates of radiologically placed jugular venous catheters. We suggest that ultrasound guided internal jugular venous cannulation is a safe and effective alternative compared to landmark technique
