Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between some physical performance parameters of boy and girl gymnasts, in the ages of 12–14, participating in the national team. 6 girls and 10 boys’ gymnasts, forming the competitive gymnastic groups of İzmir Şavkar Gymnastic Club, participated in this study. Muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and speed parameters were evaluated in the investigation of the physical performances of gymnasts Hand grip test and standing long jump test were executed to evaluate the muscular strength parameter; sit-up test was executed to evaluate the muscular endurance parameter; sit and reach test was executed to evaluate the flexibility parameter, 1 mil (1609m) Run-Walk test was executed to evaluate the cardiovascular endurance and 30 m sprint test was executed to evaluate the speed parameter of gymnasts. The statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 15.0. Pearson Correlation Analysis and Independent Samples T-Test were used to assess the statistical relations. As a result of this study, in terms of physical performances of girl and boy gymnasts, statistically significant differences were found between right and left hand strength; left hand strength and cardiovascular endurance; flexibility and muscular endurance and muscular strength; speed and cardiovascular endurance (p<0.05). While girls have higher performance levels in flexibility, muscular endurance and speed tests, boys have higher performance levels in right and left hand strength, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance tests (p<0.05).
