In this paper that the unemployment situation and wage employment radically different from the earlier ones as it emphasized on revamping the delivery mechanisms. The NREG Act was introduced with an aim of improving the purchasing power of the rural people, primarily semi or unskilled work to people living in rural India. The manual work needs to create sustainable assets that promote the economic and infrastructure development of village. It is expected that study would provide useful insight to the planners and policy makers as well as academicians and researchers, in the field of wage employment. MGNREGA is one of the wage employment programme.
