Abstract (2. Language):
Strategic management, keeps the organizastions fit and alive by contributing to them in
renewing themselves and by helping to them in struggling with new and fast changes. One of the
strategic management tools is SWOT analysis. The purpose of the this study is to investigate the
inside and outside status of physical education and sports schools and departments by utilizing swot
analysis metod which made up of English “strength”, “weakness”, “opportunity” and “threat”.With this purpose, all the school directors were reached through e-mail in Turkey but only two of them responded to it. Afterwards, the investigators personally reached to as many schools as they can and asked their managers to write their school/department’s strength, weakness, opportunities and possible threats. Their responses were classfied under these four headings (strength, weakness, opportunities and threats) and inside and outside status were analysed. As a result of these evaluations, it was determined that physical education and sport schools and departments had weaknesss and threats related with weakness but in the mean time “sport for all” and “exercise for health” concepts have emerged in society and these are excellent opportunities for sport sciences.

Stratejik yönetim, örgütlerin kendilerini daha kolay yenileyebilmeleri ve ortaya çıkan hızlı
değişmelerle mücadele edebilmeleri için geliştirilmiş bir yönetim biçimi olarak örgütlere diriklik
kazandırmaktadır. Stratejik yönetim araçlarından bir tanesi de SWOT analizidir. Bu çalışma İngilizce
“strength” (güçlü yönler), “weakness” (zayıf yönler), “opportunity” (fırsatlar) ve “threat” (tehdit ve
tehlike) kelimelerinin baş harflerinden oluşan SWOT analizi yöntemiyle ülkemizdeki Beden Eğitimi
ve Spor Yüksekokullarının/Bölümlerin iç ve dış durum analizini yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu
amaçla Türkiye genelinde tüm yüksekokul müdürlerine öncelikle elektronik ortamda ulaşılmış ancak
iki yüksekokuldan cevap gelmiştir. Daha sonra araştırmacılar tarafından ulaşılabilen yüksekokullara
bizzat ulaşılmış ve Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokullarının/Bölümlerinin güçlü- zayıf yönleri ile
bu bölümlerin sahip olduğu/olacağı fırsatlar ve muhtemel tehditleri maddeler halinde yazmaları
istenmiştir. Elde edilen görüşler araştırmacılar tarafından bu dört başlık altında (güçlü yönler, zayıf
yönler, fırsatlar ve tehditler) derlenmiş ve yüksekokullara/bölümlere ilişkin iç ve dış durum analizi
yapılmıştır. Yapılan değerlendirme sonucunda Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulu/Bölümleri’nin
zayıf yönlerinin ve buna bağlı tehditlerin varlığıyla birlikte, toplumda spor bilincinin artması, “kitle
sporu” ve “sağlık için spor” anlayışlarının hızla toplumda yaygınlaşması spor bilimleri açısından
son derece önemli fırsat olarak görülmektedir.
