Abstract (2. Language):
This study investigates the casual relationship between current (CA) and capital (KA) accounts in Turkey. To this end, based on a Vector Autoregressive Analysis for the monthly data over the periods of 1992-2009, the impulse-responses are obtained and Granger-causality tests are carried out. The findings show that the relationship between CA and KA is unidirectional and that the casual link runs from KA to CA. However, once KA is decomposed into its components as "hot money" and "other financial investment" that mainly contains credits, the results differ. While the changes in "hot money" component of KA are found to trigger CA, there seems no meaningful relationship between "other financial investments" and CA.
