Abstract (2. Language):
Avertive category is one concerning aspect, modality and tense simultaneously. It is
related to the events that have not occurred while on the verge of happening.
Proximative is an aspect value describing the moment just before the critical
threshold that has to be climbed over for the action to happen. Avertive is different
from proximative, however proximative is a must for the avertive semantics to
occur; for se the meaning of “on the verge of happening” requires a proximative. In
fact, proximative encoders play an important role in the marking of avertive. The
study deals with these encoders in Turkish and focuses on the determination of the
relation between avertive and proximative.

YaklaĢma, olmanın eĢiğinde iken olmamıĢ olaylara dair; görünüĢ, kiplik ve zamanı aynı anda ilgilendiren bir kategoridir. Sınır öncesi bakıĢ ise eylemin gerçekleĢmesi için aĢılması gereken kritik sınırın hemen öncesine yönelen bir görünüĢ değeridir. YaklaĢma, sınır öncesi bakıĢtan farklıdır ancak yaklaĢma semantiğinin oluĢması için sınır öncesi bakıĢ zorunludur. Çünkü “olmanın eĢiğinde” anlamı, sınırın öncesine bir bakıĢ gerektirmektedir. Nitekim yaklaĢmanın iĢaretlenmesinde sınır öncesi bakıĢ kodlayıcıları önemli rol oynamaktadır. ÇalıĢmada, Türkiye Türkçesinde bahsi geçen kodlayıcılar gösterilmeye ve yaklaĢma-sınır öncesi bakıĢ iliĢkisi belirlenmeye çalıĢılmıĢtır.
