Abstract (2. Language):
The usage of the Middle East concept which is a Western-centric subjective conception settled in all languages. Middle East emphasizes not only a specific geographical region but also a different culture, social structure and relations. The Middle East region -which is encompassing specifically Turkey, Iran, Mesopotamia, Arabian Peninsula, Eastern Mediterranean and Egypt- forms a intersection point where historically civilizations are born and grow up, divine religions are born and expand to the world, intercontinental trade intersects, cultures meet and pass to other places. The importance of the Middle East which takes a crucial role in the history continues in the modern era. Especially being to be born of the divine religions here is an important factor on the fact that the hearts and eyes of the members of these religions are directed to this region. Existence of the oil and natural gas reserves which are the most significant energy resources of modern economies has increased the strategic importance of the region. The Middle East is a place where traditional structures meet modern ones, chaos meet order, opposites meet in the economic sphere, the richest meet the poorest, and traditional monarchies meet the systems which have passed specific stages in the process of democracy. Social, economic, cultural, demographic, political diversity and pluralism follow geographical and physical diversity. A development towards the establishment of modern political representation institutions in the countries of the region is observed.
