Kavram ve Zihin Haritası Kullanımının Öğrencilerin Kavramları Anlama Düzeyleri ile Fen ve Teknolojiye Yönelik Tutumları Üzerindeki Etkileri

THE EFFECTS OF THE USE OF CONCEPT AND MIND MAP ON STUDENTS’ CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDINGS AND ATTITUDES TOWARD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Journal Name:

Abstract (2. Language):
This study examined the use of concept maps and mind maps in science and technology teaching on students’ conceptual understanding levels and attitudes towards science and technology. Employing a non-equivalent pretest-post-test control group design, the study had a sample of 51 students, 17 in the concept maps, 17 in the mind maps group, and 17 in the control group. The experimental application continued for four weeks on the unit of sound and light in the science and technology course with the participation of sixth-grade students. The results of the study demonstrated that the use of concept maps and mind maps in science and technology courses did not cause any significant difference on students’ levels of learning concepts and their attitudes towards science and technology. The study also found a post-test decrease in the scores of the group taught using concept maps, and the study results were interpreted in the light of the relevant literature.
