Abstract (2. Language):
The spread of dental infection through the vascular and lymphatic channels leads to a consideration of the concept of ~lfocaI sepsis", first introduced by William Hunter in 1899- KoCal infection is a secondary infection in tissues or organs of the microorganisms entering the host from an another focus. When there is a suspicion about an infection with unknown primary origin, possible dental causes must be investigated as well as other regions of body: and for that aim physicians frequently do consultations with dentists. If there is a dental focal infection in the patients with chronic systemic disease, it must be eliminated. The aim of this study performed on the patients, referred to University of Ankara, Faculty of Medicine, Dental Clinic of İbn-i Sina Hospital, was to suggest Lhe importance of dental focal infections. The incidence, age and se.K distribution, referred clinic and diagnosis, denial infectious focus and treatment protocol of the patients with dental focal infection were evaluated.
