EFFECTS OF LINGUAL ARCH APPLICATION ON THE DENTO-ALVEOLAR STRUCTURES IN CHIN-CUP TREATMENT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of lingual arch application on the dento-avveoaar structures in the chin-cup treatment of individuals who had skeletal class III anomaly. The materials of our research consisted of lateral cephalometric films (taken before and after the treatment) of 30 subjects who had Class III anomaies grownng out of mandbuaar prognathy and whose pubertal growth had not yet started. Lingual arch and chin-cup were applied to 15 of the patients whereas the other 15 were treated only with chin-cup. To determine the differences within each group parred t test was appied, and student's t test was used to determine the differences between the groups. It was observed that, in both applications with the effect of growth maxiila tended to more forward while mandible rotated down and backwards. When the two groups were compared a decrease in the L1-NB and IMPA angles of chin-cup group was determined, and this decrease was found to be statistically 0.05 significant for L1-NB angle and 0.001 for IMPA angle. The resutts indicated that in mild Class III cases, lingual arch can be useful nn obtaining the desired skeletal improvement by preventing the dental compensation.

Bu çalışmanın amacı iskeletsel SınıflII anomaliye sahip brreylenn Çeneikk ile tedavisinde Lingual ark uygulamasının dento-a/veolar yapılar üzerindeki etkilerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmamızın materyalini, alt çene progna-tsnnden kaynaklanan sınıf III anomalisine sahip pubertal büyüme atlımı henüz başlamamış 30 brreynn aateral sefalometrik filmleri oluşturmaktadır. /Hasta/arın 15 tanesnne iingual ark ve çeneikk uygulanırken, geri kalan 15 hastaya yalnızca çeneikk uygulanmıştır. Grup içi değişiklikleri belirlemek için eşleştirilmiş t testi uygulanmıştır. Gruplar arası farklılıkları beiirlemek için ise farklar üzerine Student's t testi uygulanmıştır. Her iki uygu/amada da büyümenin etkisiyle üst çene öne doğru hareket ederken att çenenin aşağıya ve arkaya doğru rotasyon yaptığı tespit edilmiştir. İki grubun karşılaştırılmasında ise çeneikk grubunda L1-NB ve IMPA açlarında azalma olduğu bu azalmanın L1-NB açısında 0.05 düzeynn de IMPA da ise 0.001 düzeynnde istatistiksel o/arak önemli olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuçlar şiddetli olmayan SınıfIII vaka/arda iingual arkın dental kompanzasyonu önleyerek istenilen iskeletsel düzeltmenin sağ/amasında fayda! olabileceğini göstermiştir.
