Abstract (2. Language):
This article reviews the use of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in endodontics and the advantages nn detecting the presence and prevalence of endodontic microorganisms. Amplification of 16S rRNA gene regions of the uncultivable and fastidious microorganisms by PCR has baazed a trail nn molecular microbiology. PCR is more specific, accurate, rapid and sensitive than culture methods. The well-directed use of these methods will provide additional valuable information regarding the identification and understanding of the causative factors associated with endodontic diseases, and may contribute to the development of improved treatment strategies.
