Resorption of residual ridges is one of the most important factors alfecting denture retention ad stability in edentulous patients. In this study, difference of bone resorption between right and Jeft side of the mandible and resorption related to age, sex and period of edentuîism were evaluated. Panoramic radiographs were taken from 110 edentulous subjets and resoption was measured on panoramic radiographs using anatomic landmarks. The difference in mandibular lieight reduction between right arid left side of mandible was significant. Mandibular resorption was greater in female than in male. The effect of period of edentuHsm on the amount and speed of resorption was also significant.
