Abstract (2. Language):
The radical changes occurred during the establishment of Turkish Republic,
changed the individual and collective identities of Turkish society and created new artistic
styles.
The foundation of this change lies under the ideology of Turkish Republic which is a
part of Turkish modernity. The aim of the Republic ideology, Westernisation affected and
transformed all elements of Turkish society.
The essay contains a discussion of individual and collective identities of Turkish
society, on the paintings produced between the years (1923-1950), that the formation of
the ideology of the Republic.

Türk toplumunun Cumhuriyet döneminde geçirdiği büyük değişim, bireysel ve
toplumsal kimlikleri değiştirdiği gibi, sanatsal olarak da yeni ifade biçimlerini ortaya
çıkarmıştır.
Bu değişimin dayandığı temel, Türk modernleşmesinin bir aşaması olan Cumhuriyet
döneminin ideolojisidir. Cumhuriyet ideolojisinin hedeflediği Batılılaşma, Türk toplumunun
tüm kademelerini etkilemiş ve dönüştürmüştür.
Bu makalede, Cumhuriyet ideolojisinin oluşum ve yaşama geçiş aşaması olan 1923-
1950 yılları arasında üretilen resimler üzerinden Türk toplumunun bireysel ve toplumsal
kimlikleri irdelenecektir.
