In contemprory societies, the structure of information has been rapidly changed. This changing process doninated by a set of ımportant transformation points to a transition period from Endustrial to Informative Society in where informative technology is the dominant power. All these changes have forced the theoricians to create new concepts. to explain what is going on in societies, and the problems in the area of information.

Çağdaş toplumlarda bilginin yapısı büyük çapta değişmiştir. Bir dizi önemli dönüşümlerce belirlenen bu değişim süreci, Sanayi Toplumu’ndan bilişim teknolojilerinin hakim güç olduğu Bilgi Toplumu’na geçiş dönemini işaret etmektedir. Bütün bu değişiklikler, kuramcıları toplumlarda neler olup bittiğini ve bilgi alanındaki sorunları açıklamak için yeni kavramlar üretmeye zorlamıştır.
