Coffeehouses, had an important function on immigrants’ adaptation process to İstanbul during the first period of migration from Anatolia to İstanbul that accelerated at the time of Democratic Party, and they had been kinds of places of immigrants’ holding on the city and solidarity. Coffeehouses were handled as very important places for heroes who had immigrated from Anatolia and their holding on the city in the Turkish Novel in which migration from Anatolia to İstanbul was described.In this study; neighbourhood coffeehouses, tradesmen and townsmen coffeehouses in which immigrants came together and all night coffeehouses which were used for settlement temporarily by immigrants, are searched into the Turkish Novel between 1950-1980 and those places are handled with their different functions.

Demokrat Parti iktidarıyla birlikte Anadolu’dan İstanbul’a göçün ivme kazandığı ilk dönemlerde kahvehaneler, İstanbul’a uyum sürecinde göçmenler için çok önemli bir işlev görmüş, bir nevi kente tutunma, dayanışma mekânları olmuştur. 1950–1980 yılları arasında Anadolu’dan İstanbul’a göçün anlatıldığı romanlarda da kahvehaneler, Anadolu’dan göçen roman kahramanlarının kent tutunabilmelerini sağlayan önemli yerler olarak işlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada, göçmenlerin bir araya geldikleri hemşehri, esnaf, mahalle kahvehanelerinin ve geçici olarak barınma ihtiyaçlarını giderdikleri sabahçı kahvelerinin 1950–1980 yılları arası Türk romanında izi sürülmüş ve bu mekânlar farklı işlevleriyle ele alınmıştır
