Abstract (2. Language):
In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of mixed reality, laboratory and traditional class environment in teaching the Magnetism. The study was conducted during the spring semester of the 2010- 2011 academic year. This study was executed with 11TH grade students of a secondary school at Trabzon. For this study, three experimental groups were formed. While the first one was the mixed reality group (N=24) using the device were develop, the second was the laboratory group (N=20) using real experiment materials, the last one the traditional class group (N=25) using the material included in the student’s books of The Ministry of Education of Turkey. To determine the achievement levels of the groups we prepared a test were applied as pre-test and post-test. To support the quantitative results, extensive interviews were undertaken with a sample from the same groups. After a four week experiment period, data collected from pre-test and post-test were analyzed through Kruskal-Wallis and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks tests using SPSS. As a result, there is a significant difference in academic achievement between these groups in favor of experiment group which is supported also by qualitative results. Additionally, there was seen that the developing of mixed reality environment had an advantage for student understands of physics, explaining, concretizing the abstract concepts.
