Foreign direct investments are important sources of capital for the developing countries. Besides serving as a capital, these investments also affect economical
development, export and employment positively and provide the transfer of technical, production, management and marketing knowledge to the countries. Foreign direct investments are also important for the transformation of Turkey into a
globally competitive economy. Despite the efforts for improvement of investment
environment, Turkey is still not an attractive country for the foreign investors aiming to create new production capacities. While the aim of this study is to analyze the foreign direct investments in Turkey, it is also to investigate the macroeconomical impacts of these investments, the insufficient increases of these investments and to explain what could be done to prevent these insufficiencies.

Doğrudan yabanci sermaye yatirimlari gelişmekte olan ülkeler için önemli bir
sermaye kaynağidir. Bu yatirimlar sermaye sağlamanin yaninda ekonomik bü-
yümeyi, ihracati, istihdami olumlu yönde etkiler ve teknik bilgi, üretim, yönetim ve
pazarlama bilgisinin ülkeye transferini gerçekleştirir. Türkiye’nin küresel düzeyde rekabet edebilen bir ekonomiye dönüşümü için de doğrudan yabanci sermaye
yatirimlari önem taşimaktadir. Yatirim ortaminin iyileştirilmesine yönelik çabalara rağmen, özellikle yeni üretim kapasitesi yaratmaya dönük yabanci yatirimcilar
için Türkiye halen cazip bir ülke konumuna gelememiştir. Bu çalişmanin amaci
Türkiye’de doğrudan yabanci sermaye yatirimlarinin analizini yaparken bu yatirimlarin makro ekonomik etkilerini incelemek, yatirimlarinin artiş yetersizliğini ve
bunu önlemek için yapilmasi gereken uygulamalari açiklamaktir.
