Abstract (2. Language):
Objectives: To compare clinically the application of lateral epikondilitis bandage with local steroid injection and its effectiveness on phenomena with humerus lateral epikondilitis. Material and Methods: 41 elbows of 39 patients, 21 of whom are males and 18 of whom are females, and were diagnosed with lateral epikondilitis after clinic and radiological examination and were followed-up regularly were taken into the scope of the study. The average age of the patients were determined to be 42.3 (19-54) and average follow-up duration was determined to be 13.7 (12-16) months. The patients were divided into two groups. In the first group, while local steroid injection was applied to 20 elbows of 19 patients, in the second group lateral epikondilitis bandage was applied to 20 elbows of 20 patients. The phenomena were evaluated two weeks after the onset of treatment and by controlling in the second, sixth and twelfth months Results: In Group 1, as the pain didn't abate two weeks after the first injection, a second injection was applied. During the last control, perfect results were obtained with the ratio of 80.95 % in Group 1 and with the ratio of in Group 2, 45%. There was a significant difference between two groups (p<0.05) and a better result was obtained in the group with steroid injection. Conclusion: There are different treatment methods available for humerus lateral epikondilit. We have the belief that among the conservative treatment methods, the local steroid injection used frequently is more effective on the recovery. ©200008, Firat University, Medical Faculty.
