Determining students’ misconceptions in chemistry is important for an effective teaching and learning chemistry. In addition, this helps curriculum developers and teachers who guide students to induce meaningful learning. The starting point of the research relating to conceptual teaching isto determine students’ prior concepts because this has an important effect in developing teaching programme for conceptual teaching. In the present study, a literature review was carried out to find out students’ misconceptions in some chemistry subjects,such as electrochemistry, acid-base and particular nature of matter.

Kimya konularında geçen kavramların etkili bir şekilde öğretimi ve öğrenilmesi sürecinde, ilgili konularda öğrencilerin sahip olduğu yanlışkavramaların belirlenmesi, önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Ayrıca, yanlışkavramaların ortaya çıkarılması, hem program geliştiricilere hem de öğrencilerin kavramsal düzeyde öğrenmelerini sağlamak amacıile onlara rehberlik eden öğretmenlere yardımcıolur. Öğrencilerin mevcut bilgilerinin ortaya çıkarılması, kavram öğretimine yönelik yapılan araştırmaların başlangıç noktasınıoluşturmaktadır. Çünkü, kavram öğretimine yönelik etkili bir programın oluşturulabilmesinde bu bilgiler büyük önem arz etmektedir. Sunulan çalışmada, kimyanın bazıtemel konularında (elektrokimya, asit-baz ve maddenin tanecikli yapısı) öğrencilerin sahip olduğu yanlışkavramaların tespitine yönelik bir literatür araştırmasıyapılmıştır.
