Abstract (2. Language):
The aim of this study is to demonstrate the students’ habits of reading and research on
their profession in Physical Education and Sport Academy, at Gazi Üniversity. A
questionnaire including 20 items was applied to randomly chosen 243 students; 133
male and 110 female. The calculations of arithmetical average, standard deviation
and percentage values of the data were statistically used. For the male students, the
students stating that they had preferred the school by themselves were % 88, and those
stating that coursebooks on sports are not sufficient were % 73. 42 out of 133 students
answered ’No’ to the question of ‘Do you read book’ as ( n = 91 ) ( % 68,4 ) out of
them answering ‘yes‘, had habit of montly reading book by the average of 1,53. 123 out
of 133 students answered to the question of ‘how many books do you read in a year’
and the number of the average book per person was 11,472 ±9,073 . Also, It is
understood that % 86,4 of them went to library 1-3 times monthly and % 57,1 of them
had attended scientific meetings 1-3 times up to that time.The female students stating
that they had preferred the school by themselves were % 89,9, and those stating that
coursebooks on sports are not sufficient were % 85. It is also found that 14 out of 110
students answered ’No’ to the question of ‘Do you read book’ as 96 ( % 85,5 ) out of
them answering ‘yes ‘ had habit of reading book by the montly average of 2,28. 102 out
of 110 students answered to the question of ‘how many books do you read in a year’
and the number of the average book per person was 15,99 ±14,71.

Araştırma, Gazi Üniversitesi Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulunda okuyan
öğrencilerin meslekle ilgili okuma ve araştırma alışkanlıklarınıortaya koymak
amacıyla yapılmıştır. Tesadüfi yöntemle seçilen, 133 erkek 110 bayan toplam 243
öğrenciye 20 maddeden oluşan anket uygulanmıştır. İstatistik olarak, verilerin aritmetik
ortalaması , standart sapmasıile yüzdelik değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Ankete katılan
erkeklerin, okula girişte % 88’ i kendi tercihiyle geldiği, % 73’ ü sporla ilgili basılan
ders kitaplarının yetersiz olduğu, “kitap okur musunuz” sorusuna 42 kişinin olumsuz
cevap verdiği, olumlu cevap verenlerin ( n = 91 ) % 68,4’ ü aylık kişi başına düşen
okunan kitap sayısı1,53 iken, “yılda ne kadar kitap okursunuza” 123 kişi evet derken
kişi başına düşen okunan kitap sayısı11,472 ±9,073’ dür. Meslekle ilgili araştırma
için ayda % 86,4’ ü 1-3 arasında kütüphaneye gittiği, % 57,1’i bu güne kadar 1-3
arasında bilimsel toplantılara katıldığıbulunmuştur. Bayanların ise,%89,9’u okula
kendi isteği ile tercih ettiği, % 85,5’ i basılan spor kitapların yetersiz olduğu, 14 hayır
cevabına karşılık 96 kişi ( % 85,5 ) kitap okuduğu, aylık kişi başına okunan kitap sayısı
2,28 olduğu, yılda ise evet diyen 102 kişiye karşılık okunan kitap sayısıortalaması
15,99 ±14,71 olduğu bulunmuştur.
