The aim of this research is to find out the misconceptions and level knowledge of secondary school students about vital important environmental problems such as global warming, ozon layer depletion, acid rain and vehicle emission. Three scale Likert type survey with 40 statements was used as data collection tool. The survey was answered by 192 students in Ankara. Data obtained from the survey has showed that students have lack of knowledge and misconceptions about this issues. Finally, it was given some suggestions for effective traffic and environmentaleducation.

Bu araştırmada, önemli çevre problemlerinden asit yağmurları, küresel ısınma, ozon tabakasının incelmesi ve araç egzoz gazları ile ilgili ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin bilgi düzeyleri ve kavram yanılgılarının tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, 40 ifadeden oluşan üçlü Likert tipi ölçek kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı Ankara ilinde öğrenim görmekte olan 192 öğrenci tarafından cevaplandırılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları, öğrencilerin trafik kaynaklı çevre problemleri hakkında bilgi düzeylerinin oldukça düşük olduğunu ve çeşitli kavram yanılgılarına sahip olduklarını göstermişolup, etkin bir trafik ve çevre eğitimi için önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
