Abstract (2. Language):
Internet provides a wide range of opportunities that enable hospitals to communicate with their patients, health professionals and other stakeholders. This research aims to determine the prevalence of Istanbul public and private hospitals’ web sites, the types of information provided within these sites and the relationship of information to institutional ownership. Among 201 Istanbul hospitals 21 (10.4%) had no web sites. 97.5% of hospitals provided basic contact information and 49.4% of hospitals provided general health information in their web sites. 55 (34%) hospitals’ web sites had search option. Although 51.9% of hospitals’ web sites provided a copyright date, only 10% provided the date last updated. 6.2% of hospitals reported accreditation (JCI) status and spesific links for patients were infrequent (17.9%). Most hospital web sites had the simple electronic brochure capabilities. In the near future hospitals should beter realize the important potential of web sites for delivery of health information and patient care.
Abstract (Original Language):
Hastanelerin %97,5’i internet sitelerinde temel iletişim bilgilerine, %49,4’ü ise genel sağlık bilgilerine yer vermektedirler. Hastanelerin 55’i (%34,0) web sitesi arama seçeneğine sahiptirler. Hastane web sitelerinin %51,9’u bir telif hakkı tarihi vermesine karşın, yalnızca %10,0’u son güncelleme tarihi vermektedir. Hastanelerin %6,2’si akreditasyon (JCI) durumunu bildirmektedir ve hastalara özel spesifik linkler oldukça az verilmektedir (%17,9). Pek çok hastanenin web sitesi basit elektronik broşür becerilerine sahiptir. Yakın gelecekte hastaneler, web sitelerinin sağlık bilgisinin sunumunda ve hasta bakımındaki önemli potansiyelinin farkına daha iyi varmalıdırlar.
