Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different rates of muscle contractions (40 rpm – 80 rpm) on physiological parameters in a giving speed of cycling. Thirteen male students from Celal Bayar University were used as subjects. Measurements were taken in three different days. First, oxygen consumption (maxVO2) of the participants was measured. Then, the work load which equal to 55-60% of VO2max of each participant was determined and used as a constant load during two different measurements at 40 and 80 rpm. The test protocols at 40 rpm and 80 rpm included 3 minute warm up, 20 minute main period and 5 minute cool down periods. Results of the statistical analyses showed that there was a significant differences in respiratory frequency, minute ventilation, oxygen consumption, blood lactate concentration, expired carbon dioxide respiratory exchange ratio and rate of perceived exertion during two different testing at 40 rpm and 80 rpm, p
