Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this study was to evaluate and try to improve the low H/Q ratios of eleven elite male sprinters and jumpers at the preparatory season. Cybex 11-340 isokinetic dynamometer was used for evaluating H/Q ratios at 60-180-300°/sec, and da¬vid's Rehab-Trainer exercise system was used for practising isometric program. Subjects with low H/Q ratios were practised isometrically for 5 weeks (2 sessions per week) while they were continuing their routinge training program. Five subjects with low H/Q ratios in 60°/sec were in the experimental group and five subjects with normal ratios were in the control. Additionally, left leg of one subject with low H/Q peak-torque ratio in 60°/sec was in the experimental group and right leg with normal ratio was in the control. Average H/Q peak-torque ratio of this group increased from 58.4 % to 64.0 % at 60°/sec 5p<0.05). However, at higher velocities no significant effect of this isometric exercise program was observed. Meanwhile, subject in the control group, perorming only their routine training program, hak decreases in their H/Q ratios at 60°/sec. Therefore, it has been concluded that adequate emphasis is not given for hamstring strengthening in sprinters and jumpers, so that H/Q ratios tend to decrease to a limit that may cause an injury.
